Wax Finishes Information and How-To

Our Furniture Wax is absolutely stunning to work with!

HOW TO USE IT

Use a clean cotton cloth or brush to apply wax in a thin layer, working into recesses of carved details or surface imperfections. Wipe away excess. Allow it to dry for 3-5 minutes. Buff to a shine with a clean lint-free cotton cloth.

COVERAGE

We have multiple sizes for all kinds of projects, even a small container will cover quite far. You only need a very thin layer of wax to your piece to achieve excellent results.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Our waxes are produced by one of the oldest family run Furniture Wax makers in Canada.
  • A fine museum quality wax, based on an old family recipe, goes on like butter.
  • Easy to apply, it provides a durable finish with a beautiful luster and has almost no odor.
  • We also have clear wax infused with 100% all natural essential oils for an added aromatherapy while you wax in two relaxing scents – Fields of Lavender and Hill’s of Tuscany.
  • Enjoy our clear wax infused with 100% all natural essential oils for an added aromatherapy while you wax in two relaxing scents – Fields of Lavender and Hill’s of Tuscany.
  • As this product contains only essential oils, the scents will diffuse quickly and is only intended to be apparent for the duration of waxing and will slowly fade away within a couple of days. These waxes will not fill the room with a strong aroma of either scent and will not yellow over time.

WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE

When applied to your wooden or painted surface, the wax will be clear. After removing the excess and allowing it to harden for 5-10 mins you can either leave for a matte sheen or buff to a beautiful luster! The choice is yours.

We have a selection of color waxes also and these will give different looks depending on the color chosen.

Black Wax adds instant age and depth to any project! Just add a small amount to the areas that have any ridges and recesses, and let the wax work its magic!

For a less dramatic effect, try our Espresso Wax! Espresso Furniture Wax gives you the perfect amount of instant vintage age with a soft subtle rich espresso brown look. Think of sepia!

We also have Liming wax for the pickling whitewashed or ceruse look, Ageing Wax will give you instant patina, and 3 metallic waxes too! Copper, Rose Gold and Pearl.

CURE TIME

All waxes take about 30 days to cure. Gently use your pieces within that time.

WHAT ELSE CAN IT BE USED FOR?

These waxes are very versatile. They can be used for furniture restoration to art work and more! Can be used on concrete, cast iron and other materials to richen their look.

Just like our Beeswax Block wax can also be used as a resist between coats of paint.

Wax is a very popular choice for finishing Milk Paint, and with the wide color selection to choose from there is one for any look you desire.

What is the difference between this wax and other brands?

Fusion Furniture Wax is based on an old family recipe for museum quality wax. Our furniture wax is safer to use than many other brands on the market, as it does not contain volatile and smelly solvents. It is very easy to use and does not require a lot of elbow grease to buff to a shine.

How do I buff my wax to a shine?

It’s so easy! Once your wax is brushed or wiped on, use a nice soft and plush applicator to buff. We like to use a rag bunched up into a soft “pillow” or one of our applicator pads. Buff with light pressure in small circles until you’re happy with the results. Usually the wax will get very smooth and slippery once it’s buffed.

How do I use this wax for accenting?

Simply brush or wipe onto the areas you want accented. For detailed areas, we recommend a brush to get into the crevices. Then wipe away the excess wax until you are happy with the results.

How do I remove the wax when I put too much on?

There’s a few different methods you can use. First, you can wipe off the wax right away and usually get most of it off. If it’s been sitting for a little while, you can use mineral spirits to completely remove it. If you want to reduce the color but still want some of the wax left behind, you can apply come clear wax as an “eraser” and remove both the clear and color with a lint free rag.

Can I use this over Fusion Mineral Paint?

Yes you can! It’s a great way to accent details or to add a bit of sheen.
